Scripts

The scripts below are designed to ensure accurate transfer of information in the most efficient manner.

It is important that you strictly adhere to them when participating in an AFN training net.

Check-in

When the NCS (net control station) asks for check-ins from your region, reply with your callsign only. Do not use phonetics for the prefix, but always use the NATO phonetic alphabet for the suffix. e.g.

ZL3 PAPA WHISKEY MIKE

Report

When the NCS calls for your report, reply with the information below and format per the examples. Do not provide any additional information.

LOCATION
SIGNAL REPORT

e.g.

This is ZL3 PAPA WHISKEY MIKE, operator Peter, base station IN Christchurch, Net Control is readability five strength seven, over.

This is ZL3 PAPA WHISKEY MIKE, operator Peter, field station NEAR Christchurch, Net Control is readability four strength three, over.

Use the word IN or NEAR to describe where you are relative to the LOCATION.

Spelling

NCS may ask you to spell your name and/or your location. e.g.

This is ZL3 PAPA WHISKEY MIKE, operator Peter. I spell, PAPA ECHO TANGO ECHO ROMEO, over.

This is ZL3 PAPA WHISKEY MIKE, location Tai Tapu. I spell, TANGO ALPHA INDIA, space, TANGO ALPHA PAPA UNIFORM, over.
